Microsoft BizSpark Program

Business.Com.My™ Appointed by Microsoft as an Official Network Partner for Microsoft BizSpark Program
- Global Program Fosters the Success of Innovative Startups Committed to Microsoft’s Platform Technologies

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - December 2008

Business.Com.My™ today announced that it has been selected to join the Microsoft BizSpark Program as a Network Partner. The BizSpark Program is a new global program designed to accelerate the success of early stage Startups by connecting them to Network Partners: active members of the global software ecosystem who can provide mentorship, guidance and resources to BizSpark Startups. BizSpark creates an ongoing, mutually beneficial ecosystem between Microsoft, Startups and Network Partners.

"In the face of the global economic crisis, the launch of the Microsoft BizSpark comes at an opportune time as local tech Startups try to gain a foothold in the software developer market in a tight budget and lack of resources situation. Business.Com.My™ will market the Microsoft BizSpark Program to it's members, and also the software and technology community in Malaysia, to make sure the early stage Startups are aware of the opportunities to take advantage of the program as well as serve as a portal of information for companies interested. Entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of our country and global economy, so we appreciate Microsoft creating the BizSpark program to provide entrepreneurs with much needed software, support and high level methods to increase their business success," said Celvin Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Business.Com.My™. "Given the strength of the innovative economy, and especially in software, this is a particularly smart time for companies to take advantage of this program and leverage the acumen that Microsoft tools and technologies have," he said.

Microsoft is committed to helping entrepreneurs to transform their ambitions into sustainable, dynamic businesses and to foster innovation and entrepreneurialism. To this end, the BizSpark Program provides Startups with software, support and visibility at a time when they are most valuable and least affordable - during their first three years, with no upfront costs and minimal requirements.

"We're excited to have great organizations such as Business.Com.My™ as Network Partners," says Peter Tam, director of software innovation at Microsoft Corporation. "We understand the difficulties startups face in trying to create a viable, scalable and sustainable business, especially in today’s economy. Microsoft BizSpark provides startups with a unique opportunity to grow their business by taking advantage of the breadth of the Microsoft platform, our global partner ecosystem and new ways to gain market exposure," he said.

BizSpark gives Startups fast and easy access to Microsoft’s current full-featured development tools, platform technologies as well as production licenses to bring to market innovative and interoperable solutions for the next generation of user experiences.

To be eligible for the Microsoft BizSpark Program, Startups must be actively engaged in development of a software-based product or service that is a core piece of their business model, have been in business less than three years, and have less than USD$0.5M in revenue. Startups may enroll for the program by obtaining sponsorship from a designated BizSpark Network partner.
